Yesterday’s Book Launch of my debut novel, The Medal, was fabulous! We expected 40-50 people. Seventy showed up. I was thrilled that so many came to help me celebrate. Thank you all.
After half an hour of chatting and enjoying the refreshments, I spoke about my book. Using my late father-in-law’s photograph and medals, I introduced the inspiration for the character of ‘Harry’, the 92-year-old war veteran. Then I read the first two chapters of the novel and autographed copies. My hand was wonderfully tired by the end!
Many thanks to Borealis Press for choosing to publish The Medal, to Oscar Malan of Novel Idea Bookstore for looking after the sales at the Book Launch, and to ‘my people’: John Sherbino, Cheryl-Ann Webster, Nancy Green, Allison Brown, Eric Sherbino and Adam Sherbino for all their help in organizing this special event.
It was an amazing day!
